Minister Peng Purna Leads Cambodian Delegation at 4th Global Ministerial Conference on Road Safety in Morocco

Marrakech, Morocco:  February 18, 2025 – At the invitation of Morocco’s Minister of Transport and Logistics and the Director-General of the World Health Organization, and with the approval of His Excellency Prime Minister Hun Sen of Cambodia, His Excellency Peng Purna, Minister of Public Works and Transport and Permanent Vice-Chairman of the National Road Safety Committee, is leading a Cambodian delegation to the 4th Global Ministerial Conference on Road Safety in Marrakech, Morocco, from February 18 to 20, 2025.

The delegation includes representatives from the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, and the Ministry of Health.

The official opening ceremony, held on the morning of February 18, 2025, was chaired by His Excellency Aziz Akhannouch, Prime Minister of Morocco. The event brought together approximately 2,500 participants, including ministers, senior UN officials, representatives from civil society organizations, educational institutions, and the private sector from 193 countries.

The conference, organized with the goals of sharing successful road safety strategies, reaffirming global commitments to road safety, and integrating road safety into the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, serves as a key platform for addressing the global road safety crisis. One of the central aims of the event is to further the implementation of the Global Plan for the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021-2030.

The theme of the 4th Global Ministerial Conference is "One World, One Road: Commit to Life," with discussions focusing on strategies to improve road safety, secure funding, and enhance management of road traffic data to reduce fatalities and injuries from road accidents.
